Our Treatment
The Mossy Foot Project in Ethiopia has 15 clinics in the Wolaitta zone, including Soddo where Mossy Foot is headquartered.
Each clinic sees over 200 patients per month. At a patient's first visit, they are treated with a bleach antifungal solution to remove the "moss" from their feet and legs. A topical ointment is then applied to keep the area clean. Doctors at the clinic will wrap the patient's legs with bandages to apply compression. The bandages will remain until the patient returns for their next visit.
Mossy Foot Project provides special oversized shoes for the patients to wear so that they are able to keep their feet clean until the feet return to a normal size.
Precise measurements are taken of the patients' legs at each visit to monitor progress in their treatment.
Despite the condition of their legs and feet, patients will often walk miles to receive their treatment from a Mossy Foot clinic.
