Home Building
I
In 2010, the Mossy Foot Project began building homes for widows that are patients of Mossy Foot.
Most often a widow in Ethiopia is a woman who has been abandoned by her husband. Due to lack of education on Mossy Foot disease, when a person contracts Mossy Foot, family members believe they are contagious and no longer valuable to society. They are left with no shelter, no food, and no care. Many times the widows have children to support as well.
The homes built for these patients are modest, but provide a suitable shelter to protect from the rainy weather and hyenas that are prevalent in Ethiopia.
